Whilst Treading Lighter
Our sustainable private individualised tours offer an unforgettable way to explore, combining comfort, style and respect for our pristine environment.

We design every tour to minimise environmental impact and protect the beauty of the places we visit – for today and tomorrow.
Every experience contributes to local communities and a cleaner, more conscious way of exploring the wonders of Orkney.
Travel in a premium electric vehicle that’s smooth, silent and emission-free – so the journey is as enjoyable the destination.
Sustainable Tourism Practices
- Small group sizes of 6 max to minimise impact.
- Supporting local businesses.
Packed lunches when provided will utilise local ingredients and suppliers who operate sustainably like the Orkney Sourdough Company (a sustainable business using local ingredients), read more below. - Wildlife protection and respect. We talk about the RSPB’s “species on the edge” programme, sustainable farming, aquaculture and housing.
- Use of renewable energy.
- Seasonal restrictions to protect wildlife.
- Waste reduction/elimination. Water will be carried on the vehicle for clients but there will be no single use plastics used.
- ’Leave No Trace’ principles.

Community & Local Impact
One of the Orkney Odyssey’s key values is collaboration. A key part of our tour design and planning is to reveal hidden gems. For example having a lunch stop at the Fossil & Heritage Centre’s Relic café. Sourcing local ingredients for packed lunches. Visiting distilleries, breweries, hotels and restaurants where local food and drink is produced or served. Visits on Wartime Orkney tours to the Ness Battery and HMS tern will bring in much need revenue for them.
