I’m passionate about sharing that connection with visitors in a way that is personal, responsible, and sustainable – supporting local businesses, protecting the environment, and helping others experience the real spirit of Orkney.
Orkney is special because it weaves together ancient history, wild natural beauty, and a deep sense of place. Neolithic sites like Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar connect you to a human story stretching back thousands of years, while dramatic cliffs, endless beaches, and ever-changing skies make you feel both small and completely alive. The constant presence of wind and sea shapes not just the land, but the people and their stories – rich with Norse heritage, myth and quiet magic. It’s a place where time feels layered, where isolation brings connection and where the elements stir something deep inside.
Orkney gives you a feeling you can’t quite name. People often say that in Orkney they feel close to something, whether it’s history, nature, or something more mysterious. It’s wild but welcoming, beautiful but slightly untamed.
Orkney feels very alive to me with its vast renewable resources, whether that be wind, tidal or wave power. It’s a renewables energy Superpower so it is no surprise that the Orkney archipelago is known as the “Energy Isles”.
This is my Orkney – What’s yours?
